2024 Fantasy football draft strategy: Tiers, cheat sheets, best breakout players, deep sleepers by NFL expert

Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix had a successful preseason, which led to him being named the starter for Week 1 of the 2024 NFL schedule. He beat out a pair of quarterbacks for the starting job and has continued to move up the 2024 Fantasy football rankings. Nix is one of three 2024 Fantasy football rookie quarterbacks who will be on the field in Week 1, as Caleb Williams (Bears) and Jayden Daniels (Commanders) are 2024 Fantasy football breakout candidates as well. Daniels potentially has the highest ceiling of those rookies, which can be attributed to his high rushing upside.

Versatile quarterbacks have become the backbone of a solid 2024 Fantasy football PPR strategy, with players like Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts leading teams to championships in recent years. Daniels and Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson have similar upside, but finding value at the optimal 2024 Fantasy football ADP is the most important factor involved in making 2024 Fantasy football picks. Top 2024 Fantasy football deep sleepers and breakouts

One of the 2024 Fantasy football breakouts Gibbs is predicting: Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Talent has never been a question when it comes to Smith-Njigba, as he entered college as a five-star recruit and turned heads during his freshman season at Ohio State. He finished as the WR50 in Fantasy football last year, catching 63 passes for 628 yards and four touchdowns.

Seattle has a new head coach in Mike Macdonald and a new offensive coordinator in Ryan Grubb, who was Washington’s OC last season. The Huskies were a dynamic passing team under Grubb’s guidance, which gives Smith-Njigba a higher upside than last year. He has to battle DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett for targets, but there is still plenty of breakout potential.

Another 2024 Fantasy football deep sleeper Gibbs has identified in his 2024 Top 150 PPR rankings: Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney. The 26-year-old signed a three-year, $39 million contract with Atlanta this offseason after spending his first four years with the Bears. He’ll be leaving colder weather behind and he hopes the inconsistent quarterback play as well. Mooney had a breakout season in 2021 with 1,055 receiving yards but has finished with fewer than 500 yards in each of the last two seasons.

The Bears ranked last in the NFL in passing yards in 2022 and 27th last year, so there weren’t too many opportunities for Mooney. That should change in Atlanta with Kirk Cousins at quarterback and playing home games and the majority of the season indoors. Mooney should be the WR2 in Atlanta and see an uptick in targets and touchdown opportunities. He had 140 targets in 2021 compared to 61 in each of the last two seasons, so when given the volume, he’s proven to be a viable Fantasy football option. See which other Fantasy football breakouts 2024 to pick here.
