CHICAGO — Kohl’s Corp on Thursday announced it’s closing nearly 30 locations around the country, including two stores in Illinois.
Stores in Plainfield, at 11860 S Route 59, and West Dundee, at 3000 Spring Hill Ring Rd., are on the closure list included in a press release. The 27 “underperforming” stores will close by April, the company said.
“We always take these decisions very seriously,” said Tom Kingsbury, Kohl’s chief executive officer. “As we continue to build on our long-term growth strategy, it is important that we also take difficult but necessary actions to support the health and future of our business for our customers and our teams.”
According to Kohl’s, impacted employees were offered a severance package or the chance to apply to another open role within the company.
The store closures span 15 states, with the majority in California.
