The New York Jets had the most emotional season-opener of any team in the league, losing quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the remainder of the year due to an Achilles injury. New York rallied to stun the Bills in a 22-16 overtime win, but its season outlook changed drastically heading into the Week 2 NFL schedule. The Jets are 9.5-point underdogs at Dallas on Sunday, according to the latest Week 2 NFL odds from the SportsLine consensus. Meanwhile, Buffalo is a 9.5-point favorite against Las Vegas in the Week 2 NFL spreads as the Bills try to bounce back from their disappointing loss.
Other intriguing NFL matchups this week include the Bengals (-3.5) vs. Ravens and Jaguars (+3) vs. Chiefs. Which games should you target with your Week 2 NFL bets? Top Week 2 NFL predictions
One of the model’s strongest Week 2 NFL picks is that the Buccaneers (-2.5) cover against the Bears in a 1 p.m. ET kickoff on Sunday. Chicago was hoping to turn its fortunes around after losing 10 straight games to close the 2022 season, but it opened its 2023 campaign with a 38-20 loss to Green Bay. The Bears have only covered the spread once in their last nine games and are 2-10 against the spread in their last 12 games against NFC teams.
Tampa Bay has dominated Chicago at home in recent years, winning nine of the last 12 meetings at Raymond James Stadium. The Buccaneers opened the season with a 20-17 win at Minnesota, as quarterback Baker Mayfield threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns in his Tampa Bay debut. Mayfield throws for more than 230 yards and at least one score in the model’s latest simulations. See which other teams to pick here.
Another one of its Week 2 NFL predictions: the Cardinals (+5.5) cover the spread at home versus the Giants. Arizona has dominated this series over the years, winning seven of its last 10 meetings against the Giants. The Cardinals are also 8-0 against the spread in their last eight games against opponents from the NFC East. The Cardinals nearly pulled off the upset last week on the road against the Washington Commanders, but they easily covered the spread as seven-point underdogs.
The Giants, meanwhile, suffered an embarrassing 40-0 defeat against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. New York’s offense committed three turnovers and finished with just 171 total yards, averaging 2.6 yards per play. SportsLine’s model expects New York’s offense will struggle yet again on Sunday with Daniel Jones throwing for fewer than 200 yards and not a single receiver topping the 50-yard mark. That’s a big reason why the model shows Arizona covering the spread in well over 50% of simulations. See which other teams to pick here.
